Your Captain, Chris Angel, is a United States Navy Veteran, US Coast Guard licensed Master of Vessels less than 100 tons, and Marine Safety Instructor.

 

The Tour

This tour is perfect for families and small groups seeking a personal experience not offered aboard larger boats. Aboard the Samantha Lynne you will have the freedom to stay inside the heated cabin or move around on the rear deck with unobstructed views. There is no smelly diesel engine exhaust, allowing you to smell the forest, the sea breeze and sometimes even whale breath.

Due to the size and speed of the Samantha Lynne we have the ability to cover significantly more distance than many of the larger vessels in search of whales, seals, porpoise, eagles and bear, all while enjoying the magnificent wonder of Southeast Alaska.

Booked this trip as the cruise ship excursions were full (we were glad they were!). It was an amazing experience. Chris took us to a place were he had seen hump backs feeding earlier in the day. For 2 hours we watched four whales diving and creating bubble rings to gather their food. The seagulls overhead helped us pinpoint where to be looking as the whales broke through the surface of the water. Awesome! -countrygirlNorthants

We got off our cruise having not booked a shore excursion and decided we wanted to do whale watching. Saw him and his boat and asked him if he could take the 4 of us out. He gave us a great deal and we were able to cruise around everywhere at a quick pace. It was a slow day for Whales but saw lots of other wildlife. He was very personable and nice to spend a few hours with. He also gave us all a hat for a souvenir. -Justin S

We (6 adults) got an outstanding tour of a number of sites where humpback whales were bubble feeding. Great opportunity to photograph MANY whales, amidst the spectacular Ketchikan backdrop. We had a fabulous morning. Will post pictures if I ever figure out how... -Dr. Sharon Leede

Chris and his boat were great! Unfortunately we did not find any whales. We did see Bald Eagles and seals. Chris was knowledgeable and frinedly. The small group atmoshphere was great for us! -Pat D.

We loved this trip! The boat, the Samantha Lynne, was fast and comfortable, and sized just right for our small group. It was new and decked out with all the latest gear, plus the twin Honda 200 outboards were quiet and make for more room on the boat. The captain, Chris, was knowledgable and very profesional, and made us feel like locals. The surrounding area is really beautiful, especially when you can get up close.
